Super Saturday!

Addie has had a hard time letting Christmas go. She's sad to see the decorations gradually being put away. She asked to keep this musical snow globe out. It plays Hark the Herald Angels Sing and that's her favorite carol. Today on the way to the basketball game she asked for everyone, on the count of three to please sing Hark the Herald. We obliged her and sang. I told her that no one really knows what time of year Jesus was born, and that some scholars think it was probably during the summer. She decided then that it's okay to sing Hark the Herald year round. I probably shouldn't have told her that.

We had a BLAST this morning at the girls' first Upward basketball game. They were fantastic! Ali scored her very first goal in her very first basketball game! She also won the sportsmanship award! It was so good to see children having such a great time playing sports. Ali's friend Memory Kate was such a sweetheart. When Ali scored her first goal, Memory Kate gave her a high five. It made Ali's day. Addie's game was quite comical. They don't keep score and it resembles a stirred up fire ant bed. They were cute as can be out there. Addie was the only girl on the team but she scrapped with the best of them! She also won the sportsmanship award for her team!

As if the day wasn't exciting enough, Ali's friend Hailey came over today and her parents had dinner with us. The girls had a great time and I watched them flying down the driveway on a bike and an electric scooter. Ali looked like Evil Knieval and Hailey looked like Penelope Pitstop. I took a  deep breath and thanked God that Ali has good friends who aren't headed for the juvenile justice system. After it got too dark outside, they came in and talked Pete into getting the spin paint thingy out. (Thanks again Royce!).

We're busy preparing for a "major winter weather event". I've about had my fill of snow but if it gets me a couple days at home with the kids I'll take it!  Pete cut firewood most of the day today and bless his heart he went to Wal Mart for me too. So, we may be snowed in with only Corona and cheesy poofs. But that's alright.  Corona, cheesy poofs, and a couple days out of school doesn't sound half bad.

  1. Girls seem to be doing great at the new school and making lots of new friends. They are too cute in their uniforms. I'm coming to your house if the power goes out cause we have never used this gas fireplace- too expensive to turn on and I'm not doing it today with the risk of stinking up the house. Don't worry- I'll bring my milk and we can leave it on the porch to keep it cold. I've got coke products too and believe it or not some paper cups. LOL!
