Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

This morning I took some fresh eggs to school to give away. I had the funniest conversation with my colleagues over the agricultural aspects of raising chickens and fresh eggs. I can't remember when I laughed so hard. Someone in the room made a motion that I teach a professional development class on agricultural awareness. Cracked me up. Quotes of the day (for all my Ag Alumni friends out there)
1." I did not know a hen would lay an egg without mating."  Uhhh WHAT? Hello. Women have eggs without mating!   2. "What kind of chicken is a hen?"  Okay so I just don't have a clue how to even start.  At least we were all got a good laugh.  I'm just thankful my kids are growing up closer to their food. Don't get me wrong- we eat our share of chicken nuggets, but at least the girls know that chicken nuggets don't really qualify as chicken.

I meant to post this picture yesterday. Addie got 14 eggs from the coop!

Today she only got 2 eggs but she is so proud of her "umbrella technique"!

After much gnashing of teeth, Ali finally finished homework and we watched Racing Stripes tonight.

I am so proud of the girls this week! They have really done a great job folding their own clothes and helping out around the house. They've both been laying their own clothes out at night. Addie picked her clothes out today, complete with gloves and socks! These two are something else. Just love them to pieces!

The weather is calling for the possibility of a dusting of snow by morning. I'm not amused. I am ready for spring! The dang groundhog did not see his shadow. Go away snow! Pete went out on the last pretty weekend we had and reported that most of the grapes and berries made it through the winter. That just made me even more excited about spring time!
